Even though it was functioning correctly it was making a strange noise and had to be sent back for repair. I expected more from a reel in this price range. I bought the 6000 silver model when it first arrived on the market and it is easily the best reel I have used in the surf. Granted, I have not used a Van Steal before and I'm sure that someone will dispute this claim, but for the price it cannot be beat.
